What is LINC?
Newcomers will be first assessed by a qualified assessment service to determine their English language skills. Based on their results, students will be placed in the most appropriate class for their skill level.
BCALC classes are offered on a part-time basis in the morning, afternoon or evening to accommodate work and family schedules.
Our instructors use real-world language tasks, guest speakers, computers and a range of teaching tools to help newcomers improve their English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Teaching Assistants help individual students in the classroom with pronunciation, reading, writing and conversation.
To qualify for the LINC program you must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Be a permanent resident or refugee
- Have a CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) referral to determine placement into the most appropriate LINC class.
